3 Terrorists Killed In J-K’s Bandipora Encounter
Three unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Shokbaba forest in the Sumblar area of Bandipora in north Kashmir following inputs about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
He said as the forces were conducting searches in the area, the terrorists fired upon them. The forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter in which 3 terrorists were killed, the official added.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists is being ascertained, he said.
Refuting reports of three jawans being injured in the joint operation launched in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora, Defence officials on Saturday said that the operation is underway and only one jawan has been injured.
According to a statement issued by PRO Defence, the injured jawan has been evacuated. Today morning, a joint operation was launched based on specific inputs of JKP and contact established. The operation is underway. Some media have reported that three jawans have been injured. The fact is that only one jawan has been injured and has been evacuated,” a statement issued by PRO Defence said.
Both Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces are carrying out the operation. Further details are awaited.
