Vicky Kaushal, known for his role in the 2019 hit “URI,” returns with the highly anticipated biopic “Sam Bahadur,” portraying the legendary Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The recently unveiled teaser promises another stellar performance by Kaushal.

Who was Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw?

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, India’s first Field Marshal, played a pivotal role in the nation’s history. He is renowned for his leadership during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, which resulted in the birth of Bangladesh. Manekshaw served as the Chief of the Army Staff during this war and was later promoted to the rank of Field Marshal by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. His warm relationship with Gandhi was exemplified when, upon her return from Paris, he complimented her hairstyle, demonstrating their friendly rapport. Manekshaw passed away at the age of 94 in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of military excellence and a key figure in the creation of Bangladesh.

The teaser focuses on Sam Manekshaw‘s unwavering dedication to the Indian Army, highlighting his willingness to sacrifice everything for his nation while steering clear of political entanglements. It underscores the 1971 war, where he led from the front, resulting in the birth of Bangladesh.

Notable cast members include Sanya Malhotra as Sam’s wife Siloo, and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi. Neeraj Kabi and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also feature as Jawaharlal Nehru and Yahya Khan.

“Sam Bahadur” is set to hit theaters on December 1, offering a compelling cinematic journey through Sam Manekshaw’s remarkable life and achievements.
