Project Veda: A Mobile Satellite Launch Vehicle Of DRDO

Recently, many speculations are floating on social media and the Rumors market was also very hot about the Veda missile that the 3-D model sees in the DRDO office. But now, the director of Project Veda has confirmed that Veda is a mobile satellite launch vehicle for military satellites. So we all know what is Veda project and what kind of launcher it can be.

What is Project Veda

According to DRDO officials, In the project Veda, DRDO scientists are developing a mobile satellite launch vehicle named Veda. It can launch satellites from any place like a mountain, forest, or land. DRDO develops it for the launch of military satellites.

DRDO stands for Defence Research & Development Organisation. It is a military research and development organization under the Ministry of Defence of the Government of India.

Benefits of Project Veda

The project Veda comes with 2 Major benefits –

  1. The intelligence of military satellites
  2. Fast launching of satellites

1. The Intelligence of Military Satellites

To date, along with ISRO, DRDO also develops military satellites, but satellites are launched only by ISRO. ISRO launches all satellites from its launch stations, and this information remains in the public domain.

But after the success of the Veda project, DRDO will be able to develop as well as launch all military satellites.

Now, anyone can’t track the position of Indian military satellites because they have no information about the launch date, site, or time. Apart from this, while taking the satellite from the DRDO Development Center to the launch site, the chances of its capabilities getting leaked would have increased.

As a result, when the enemy does not know the location of our military satellites, then he will not be able to destroy them with anti-satellite missiles.

2. Fast Launching of Satellites

As we know, ISRO has only heavy-lift and medium-lift launch vehicles. ISRO launches 2 Or more satellites simultaneously because it is very costly to launch only one single satellite from these launchers. In other words, launching military satellites along with other satellites results in significant delays in the launch.

However, ISRO is also working on the development of a small satellite launch vehicle (SSLV) for small and micro-satellites.

3. On-demand Satellite Launcher

This launcher provides the ability to launch satellites on-demand if the enemy shoots down military satellites in the middle of a war or has a technical fault with the satellite. In short, It gives the fastest replacement of satellites.

4. Destroy the Enemy’s Satellites

If the location of the enemy’s satellite is known, then with the help of this launcher, you can launch a mini obstacle against the enemy satellite in its path. And as soon as the enemy’s satellite hits Obstacle it will be destroyed.

Possibilities Of The Veda Launcher

There is no official confirmation but its design is speculating that Veda is a derivative of the Agni-4 Mark 2 missile. Agni 4 is a ballistic missile that comes with a range of 3,500 – 4,000 km and can attain an altitude of 900 km. However, It looks similar to the A-Sat missile that was the anti-satellite missile of India. It is a modified version of the Prithvi defense vehicle mark 2.

According to DRDO Chief G. Satheesh Reddy, the interceptor missile of A-Sat is capable of shooting down all the satellites present in low Earth orbit. This means that the A-Sat can achieve LEO and easily launch satellites.
