India’s Defence Intelligence Chief Will Visit Australia

Lt General DS Rana, Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA), will embark on an official visit to Australia from March 19-21, aiming to bolster defence intelligence cooperation and deepen strategic ties between India and Australia.
During his three-day visit, Lt General Rana will engage with top Australian Defence officials, including the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Defence, the Director General of National Intelligence (DGNI), the Chief of Defence Intelligence, and the Chief of Joint Operations of the Australian Defence Forces (ADF). The discussions will center on enhancing intelligence-sharing frameworks, advancing regional security cooperation, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.

A key highlight of the visit includes a tour of the Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQ JOC), where the DG DIA will gain insights into Australia’s operational strategies and joint command systems. Additionally, Lt General Rana will meet with the Director of the Australian Geospatial Organisation (AGO) to discuss geospatial intelligence collaboration.
Beyond military engagements, the visit features a stop at the Lowy Institute, a renowned think tank, where the DG DIA will participate in talks on strategic defence and security challenges facing the Indo-Pacific.

Symbolizing the shared military heritage and respect between the two nations, Lt General Rana will lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial and attend the Last Post Ceremony, a poignant tribute to fallen soldiers.
This visit highlights the growing partnership between India and Australia, reflecting their mutual commitment to fostering peace, stability, and security in the region amid evolving global challenges.
