Recently, The Indian Army’s prestigious Airawat Division, also known as the 1st Armoured Division, demonstrated its operational readiness and tactical expertise in a series of integrated mechanized and infantry exercises focused on overcoming resistance in built-up areas. What is Airawat Division?
Nicknamed the “Black Elephant” or “Airawat” Division, this elite unit, headquartered in Patiala, is a cornerstone of the Indian Army’s Western Command and II Corps. Known for its historical significance, the division played a pivotal role in the 1948 Hyderabad operation and has been a symbol of strength since its formation in 1945.
