BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) signed a contract worth $375 million with the Department of National Defence of the Republic of Philippines on January 28, 2022, for the supply of Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System to the Philippines. The BAPL is a joint venture company of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The contract is an important step forward for the Government of India’s policy of promoting responsible defence exports.

This is India’s first major foreign military sale. There is no doubt that this export contract of Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System of Brahmos will lay a strong foundation for the vision of Make in India and Make for the World.

As per the initial deal, the Philippines will get three missile batteries of a missile system that has a range of 290 kilometres and a speed of 2.8 Mach (thrice the speed of sound). The deal also encompasses training for operators and the necessary integrated logistics support package, said the sources.
