Coast Guard Rescues 8 Crew From Sinking Boat Off Tuticorin

Amid the cyclone fury, the Indian Coast Guard rescued eight crew members of a sinking boat off Tuticorin.

A defence release said at about 0230 hours early at the morning, the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) Tuticorin received information regarding flooding onboard Indian fishing boat Tharuvaikulam with eight crew members.

ICGS C-432 was deployed for assisting the stranded vessel. The Coast Guard rescue team deflooded the engine room and necessary repairs were undertaken to stop further flooding in the boat.

Timely action by the Indian Coast Guard rescue team provided much succour to the crew and the boat was successfully towed to the Tuticorin harbour.
