IAF Resumes Operation To Douse Fire in Dzukou Valley

 The Indian Air Force (IAF) resumed Bambi Bucket operation from Sunday onwards to douse the fire in Dzukou Valley near Kohima, said IAF.
“Continuation of Operations Dzukou Valley. IAF helicopters resumed Bambi Bucket operations today towards dousing the fire in Dzukou Valley near Kohima. Four Mi-17 helicopters have been deployed at Dimapur AND Rangapahar for the task,” IAF tweeted. Sixty personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed on Saturday at the wildfire site at Dzukou valley which lies on the Manipur-Nagaland border, according to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Seven teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for fire fighting mission at Dzuko valley near Kohima here.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has also deployed three more helicopters equipped with Bambi Bucket for fire fighting mission at Dzuko valley.

“Yesterday, IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter was deployed for fire fighting mission at Dzuko valley near Kohima, Nagaland and a C-130J Hercules aircraft airlifted nine tonnes load with 48 NDRF personnel from Guwahati to Dimapur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday had assured of assistance to Singh in containing the wildfire. Director-General of NDRF Satya Pradhan updated that teamwork of all the agencies along with support from the Centre and the state government helped in fighting the wildfire.
This valley is located at the state borders of Manipur and Nagaland and is a popular tourist spot. The wildfire is causing harm to its natural environment.
