IAF Signs MoU With CSIR-NML For Material Science And Engineering The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur in the Indian state of Jharkhand has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Air Force.

Media reports stated that the MoU outlines the research and development in the field of material science and engineering.

In a statement, the organization said: “Discussions were held on the areas of prime national interest in the field of materials, metals, corrosion science and other allied engineering domains with an aim to decide on aspects of collaborations between IAF and CSIR-NML.”

A delegation from the air force visited the CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur, during which it stressed the need to improve the reliability and serviceability of the legacy assets. It emphasized material informatics, substitution, life extension, and indigenization.

In August, IAF carried out the testing of the Beyond Visual Range (BVR) anti-air multi-target MICA missile, which will be integrated with the recently acquired Rafale fighter jets.

According to a New Indian Express report, the Indian Air Force conducted the tests, using the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets off Odisha coast.

In September, IAF formally inducted the first five Rafale multirole aircraft at Ambala Air Force Station, India.
